Herbalife-Sponsored Olympic Athlete Attila Vajda Wins Gold!
Hungarian flatwater canoeing athlete Attila Vajda captured the gold in the men's 1000-meter canoe singles on Friday, August 22, winning Hungary's first gold medal of the games at Beijing. Attila, 25, told reporters that during the race he drew inspiration from the memory of his friend, two-time Olympian Gyorgy Kolonics, who died while training for the 2008 Games. He said, "It was a tough race, but he was with me throughout until the last 50. From there on, I didn't need him." Attila paddled to victory ahead of the competition, crossing the finish line in 3 minutes, 50.467 seconds.
Attila, who was selected by his coach as the "secret weapon" of the Athens Olympics, previously took home the bronze in the men's 1000-meter canoe singles in the 2004 Games, and in 2006 won the national title at the World Championships held in Duisburg, Germany. Herbalife-sponsored athlete Haruka Hirota, hailing from Osaka, Japan, was crowned with her first gold medal at the All Japan Games. Since then, she's represented her country at the Athens Olympics in 2004 and is a medal hopeful in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. How has she risen so far at such a young age?" New Stars in the LA Galaxy
Herbalife is the Official Nutrition Company and Presenting Sponsor of the LA Galaxy. The team kicked off their first home game of the 2008 season at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. with a 2-0 win against the San Jose Earthquakes.
New to the lineup this season are two Herbalife-sponsored players. Defender Chris Klein of St. Louis, Mo. joins the team from the Kansas City Wizards; forward Carlos Ruiz of Guatemala City, Guatemala was most recently a member of FC Dallas.

Herbalife extends its "Presenting Sponsor of the Los Angles Galaxy" status with an exciting five-year agreement with AEG. Look for the Herbalife name front-and-center on the team´s jerseys starting this season!
